The sounds of campers in the old dining hall always brings joy to my heart but it was electrifying this week. I almost couldn’t sleep last night because I was so excited to head out to camp and see the boys. Both had a really good first week. Walker said hello briefly before heading off to his camp duty cleaning the health center—and toilets!
Jessie, my friend Liz’s daughter, was a first year camper. She was full of stories and told me she bragged to Mason that she got a letter from me before he did. Mailed from the same post office, same day, same time right outside of camp, who can explain that?
Eli was one of Mason’s unit buddies who he’ll see again for Lodge week at the end of summer.
Reports were that it was a great week. Mason had a great time with Justin as his unit leader. Brebeuf came in third for the golden arrowhead and Mason was Ursela in the skit.
After signing out, we got separated but I have learned that there is one place at camp I should always look first to find my kiddo. After his final round, we headed home for the quick turnaround that will take place today. I foresee lots of laundry, a good shower and some down time for Mason before he leaves for Camp Ransburg tomorrow.
In the meantime, we’re going to enjoy him while he is home.
