Today is the Class of 2017’s last full day in Washington DC and just like all the others, it is quite scheduled. After breakfast at hotel, they headed to the Iwo Jima Memorial.
Then they visited Ford’s Theatre, the site of the assassination of President Lincoln.
At Arlington National Cemetery, they witnessed the changing of the guard ceremony and four SJB students got to place a wreath at the Tomb of Unknown Soldier.
Just in time for lunch, they arrived at the Capitol for quick bite and a tour.
In small groups, they had a choice to explore one or two of the Smithsonian museums on the mall such as American Museum of Natural History, American History, Air and Space Museum, Daniel’s Story or the new African American Museums.
Their bus met them and they traveled to National Place for dinner before going to the see the Nationals play the Arizona Diamondbacks. After six innings, they loaded up and returned to the hotel one last time. Tomorrow they have an early start for home.
