Sash Sewing

With our first weeks of camp on the immediate horizon, the goal of finishing Mason’s lodge sashes for Camp Ondessonk gained priority.

These sashes are quite the undertaking.  When I pulled out the materials from our last big sewing session, I was delighted to discover we were more than halfway there.  We just had the twenty red sashes remaining.  Over the course of many days, I ironed and sewed. So that Mason could legitimately say he contributed to the production, I found a few steps that where Mason was able to help.

His main job was to pin the short ends together and sew them.  These ends were later flipped to create points.

Looking back on the photos, I noticed Mason was wearing a Camp Ondessonk shirt.  This was not planned; it just speaks to how much my kids love this camp.  As soon as these last twenty are done, he will be able to turn them in and earn his lodge arrowhead.
