It was good to get back to Camp Ondessonk today for the first session of camp. Our 9:15 am arrival was early enough this time to earn us first place in the queue but had we dallied even five minutes, we would have been third.
Selby tradition dictates a walk from the car to the front gate. Our queue time was happily passed knitting, reading, chatting with friends and then lunch.
Once the gates opened, it was smooth sailing through registration.
Look who was doing the temperature checks.
It was good to lay eyes on Walker. He was all business and kept the line moving.
Then we were off to Mason’s unit, Brebeuf, where his unit leader was once again Justin. Woohoo! New this year were these fancier barter bands with bar codes.
Cabins in Brebeuf are named after Simon and Garfunkel songs. Mason was mildly impressed by my ability to serenade him with Cecelia as he and Bill put up the bug netting. Thanks, Mom! All those tunes paid off.
Mason passed the swim test with flying colors and then bid us adieu at the lake. The boys are in their happy place and Bill and I are now empty nesters for the next week.
Heepwah!
Summer is in full swing for sure. VBS this week and Anna goes to Catholic Youth Camp on Sunday. Soon there will be “champions are made in the summer” (aka Cross country 8:00 runs) and drivers ed. Oh and
Carolyn gets her wisdom teeth out tomorrow. Summer is great! Wish we were closer to your CYC
Love the temp check pic!
