A Simple Sunday

Today was quite a mellow day but it was productive. We began the day prayerfully in the living room.

While we attended virtual Mass, I knit a helical scrappy coffee cozy that I will gift to the baristas at Christmas. This technique of striping is magical and I never tire of it. It allows me to knit small balls of seemingly discordant yarn scraps in a visually pleasing fashion. These cozies tickle my sweet spot of using every last bit of yarn.

I also worked on Joey’s quilt.  I pieced all the T-shirt blocks together and then I added the wide sashing to the sides, top and bottom.  The next step was to prepare the batting.  Typically I would go to Joann to buy one large piece of batting to make the quilt sandwich but in light of Covid, I am trying to be resourceful.  Instead, I dug in my box of scraps and discovered I had large enough pieces that I was able to piece together. Score another point for using it all up.

While I was sewing, Bill and Walker were working on completing Walker’s AP Research Paper also known as the IB extended essay.  The topic is data privacy and it’s the final paper of the semester.  They finally finished it today!  Hurray! With that task behind us, summer can officially begin.

This afternoon Bill and I went for a drive with a cup of coffee in hand. Getting out together and being in the world in a safe, socially distance manner was uplifting and made things feel normal.

Bill grilled dinner for us and we settled in for a relaxing evening.
