Mason and Bill sneaked off a few days ago and bought each one of us ornaments to commemorate this year. We added them to the tree as we decorated today. First, I received a dated 2020 Precious Moments, Every Bunny Loves a Christmas Hug, and then a Wonder Woman Rocks guitar which plays a version of Wonder Woman Wrath.
Mason added a Despicable Me Minion Peekbuster which also emits sound.
Walker has been playing a lot of Super Mario as Nintendo recently released Super Mario 3D All-Stars, hence the 8-bit Mario. He is also a big fan of hot chocolate so the Gingerbread Man ornament celebrates those.
Lastly, Bill got A Christmas Story, What a Great Lamp. Several years ago we watched this movie on Christmas. There were a few poignant lines in it but mostly we remember that they had duck for dinner, a favorite of Bill’s.
After lunch Bill and I turned on some Christmas music and worked on the tree together. Though we have accumulated quite the number of ornaments, this year we opted to decorate the tree minimally. It was nice to honor the spirit of “just enough.”
This evening we attended Mass in the Philippines at the Minor Basilica of Our Lady of Manaoag. While the Mass was said in English, the homily was in both Tagalog and English. From what we could tell, the priest was not translating but rather giving one continuous message in two languages.
After Mass, we had dinner in from Sakura and watched the most recent episode of Mandalorian.
