It was my first day volunteering on a Friday. I was scheduled as a greeter but they needed to move to me my usual station at checkout. That allowed me to do knit as usual between patients.
It was a great day for seeing familiar faces. Besides the usual volunteers and pharmacist I see regularly, my doctor was volunteering as a vaccinator. I was delightfully surprised when Paulette walked in to vaccinate. Paulette’s in-laws (who I also know and love) were scheduled for their vaccines and I saw another friend from the neighborhood.
Sr. Jane stopped in and we said hello. I swear, she has her hands in everything at the hospital. Bill had shared with me a calendar with kindness challenges for each day of February that the hospital had published for employees. Yesterday’s challenge was to surprise someone with a thank you note. Because the calendar delighted me so, I sent an email to the contact listed. Sr. Jane told me she had seen the email and commented to the employee that she know who sent it!
Meanwhile, we got great news that Grandma Suzanne got her first vaccine!
This afternoon Mason was all smiles even though he had to ride along for a few extra errands on our way home.
Today’s challenge was to walk twenty minutes. Even though I was tired and it was cold, I walked and knit. My fingers were frozen when I got home but my heart was happy that I had gotten some exercise.
We wound down into the weekend with a tasty Kale and Kuri Squash soup. This will definitely be a recipe worth repeating.
