Last night Bill and I were talking about the fact that I have seen many people with Down’s Syndrome come for their vaccines at the clinic. They were included in the recent group with 55+ folks. It made me think of our friend Hayden. This morning I texted his mom to see if he had gotten his vaccine and she responded that he happened to be getting his second shot today.
Though I was not scheduled to be there, I stopped in at the clinic and arrived just as he checked in. He was so excited to see me that he gave me a giant hug. It was the first one I had exchanged with a non-family member since I got vaccinated.
He was a trooper and made it through like a champ. On his way home, he got a treat. This is the true essence of Hayden. I’m so happy I could be there on this right of passage. Incidentally, Hayden celebrates his 21st birthday this year in June. What a big year from him!
On the knitting front, I pulled together some leftovers from a friend and marled them together.
I love the magic that happened. Voila! A finished a scrappy hat ready to be added to the charity pile.
