A Hug Around the Neck

My life is full of people who I would like to give handmade gifts to but getting the timing right is often tricky.  I don’t usually feel like knitting Christmas gifts in July which is really when I’d have to start if I were going to get them all done promptly.  I much prefer to make and gift on my own timeline. If you ever have received a knit or a quilt from me, you know that to be true.

With in mind, I made a cowl for my friend, Liz.  I sleuthed around a little and texted her husband about her favorite color.  He said she looked really good in green but as you can tell, I went with my gut.

It turns out, my gut was right.  Her new cowl matched her top perfectly and she was kind enough to stand out in the bitter cold to model it for me.  What a pal!

I made the Caring Cowl by Alexis Winslow in Patons Classic Wool Roving. I would definitely recommend this pattern.  It was a super easy knit and worked up quite quickly. The yarn is snuggly and warm and available at a local big box store.  I used a full skein for this cowl.  Yay!
