A Wednesday Monday

When I woke up, I knew I needed it to be a Monday.  Mondays are my day to reset, clean and start my week. With the holiday and then my volunteer day, my Monday got pushed to today. However, I was starting my Monday really tired. I had to find the balance between easing into the day and pushing myself to do the things I knew would make me feel good.

After tackling a number of computer tasks, I mustered the energy to tackle the floors in a power hour of cleaning.  Once I got going, I was on a roll and it was easy to clean the bathrooms and do the laundry as well.

It helped that the sun was shining brightly. It’s always easier to clean with sunshine. I took advantage of that to photograph several of the charity hats I have finished lately.

These are all made using leftover balls of yarn that my friends have donated to my charity knitting cause. It is a lot of fun.

The hat I started yesterday at the Covid clinic was not the best choice because there was counting involved. Because I kept picking it up and putting it down, I got off on the pattern multiple times and ended up ripping back as much as knitting forward. Oh well! I finally made it to the crown.

This afternoon I knit with my Illinois knitting buddies. I showed them the Advent shrug and discussed the options for how I’ll finish it. Talking with them filled my cup as it always does.

Bill surprised me with a suggestion for carry in from our favorite Mediterranean restaurant. We really enjoy their fattoush salad, spicy eggplant, baba ghanouj and fresh pitas. The boys like the gyro, falafel and kabobs. It’s a good choice for our family because there is something for everyone.

In the world, today was the inauguration of President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.  I would not be the only one who might admit to holding her breath in anticipation of how it would go after the insurrection on January 6th. Thankfully, it was peaceful and uplifting.  There is much hope in the air.

Additionally, Bill learned that they were starting to roll out the vaccines in California for older folks. Othena is set up for Orange County residents but there are different sites for other counties. We both called our parents to share the news so they could start the process. The sooner we are all vaccinated, the sooner we can hug in person!
