Black or Blue
By Mason Selby

Mom’s spaghetti

Kid so young, beat to confetti

But the justice ain’t given,

while the cop forgiven

Victims beaten and treated like trash

Crosses being burnt to an ash

Story after story will pass, but still no answer appears

Jury after jury, yet freedom ain’t here.

The issue is complicated, yet so crystal clear.

See no consequences, while riots cheer.

But leave them alone, in a separate set of home

Do Black lives matter

or

Blue lives matter?

Blame it on them, blame it on you,

If we treated others like brothers, we would be less blue

Trial after trial, case after case.

But all those lawyers can’t fix his broken face.

Do Black lives matter

or

Blue lives matter?

Reading Miranda rights, causing a prison fight.

Eyes bruised can’t see a sight, but the system says it is quite alright.

Young or old

From 14 to 40

Till and Crutcher

Bloody like a butcher

Do it again, do it some more.

The body was found by the shore.

Fought by Pac, Cube and Dre

But it seems brutality is here to stay

And if I had on task to help

Then I’d ask myself

Do Black lives matter

or

Blue lives matter?
