Both Sides of the Breakfast Counter

It’s interesting how watch how our participation in certain events is changing as the boys get older.  Just as the circus was different this year, so was Breakfast with Santa.  In years past, we have gone as a family, sat and eaten together and then supervised the kids while they did all the crafts and played all the games.

Today Walker got up and out the door by 6 AM to prepare the breakfast for Breakfast with Santa.  The Boy Scouts made pancakes, sausage, eggs, biscuits and gravy for the two breakfast seatings and then stayed around to clean up the entire kitchen.

Meanwhile, Mason and I found his best friends from school and he quickly had breakfast with them.  Then they all got up and went by themselves to run around, giggle, play games and tell jokes.  I know Mason made reindeer food which he ate but I’m not sure he played any games.  I milled around and chatted with other parents while the festivities took place.

I did corner Mason to take a picture with Santa.  Thankfully, Mason’s BFF was also in line to see the jolly old fellow.  Standing in line is always easier with a friend by your side so Mason was in a great mood for Santa and his elf.
