Even though it is winter outside and school is actually closed today for snow and ice, summer will be here before we know it. Summer means camp and camp means swim tests. We signed up at the YMCA so Mason could build up his stamina in the pool.
Besides doing distance, the Boy Scout swim test requires that the swimmer float. This is one of Mason’s superpowers. He does it with ease and can hang out in this position for much longer than the one required minute. I, on the other hand, have logs for legs.
I’m a much better poolside knitter. I did laps around the knitting needles on my latest cowl project with yarn I purchased when I was in Henderson for my Auntie Faye’s celebration of life. We both got the exercise we needed and felt uplifted when we left.
Walker joined us as well because he wanted to take a look at his school while it was blanketed in snow.
This was one of those times when the school closure felt valid. Residents of Upstate NY, Minnesota and Wisconsin would still laugh that this amount shut us down, but at least we had a little white stuff.
