Crossing Bridges

We crossed the “money saving” bridge into Kentucky for our walk today.  That phrase hails from our earliest days when we moved here thirteen years ago almost to the day.  Gas is always cheaper in KY or at least it used to be before Costco came to town but that’s besides the point.

Most of the trails at Audubon State Park are within the Nature Preserve.  Some of them feature interpretive signs about the park and Audubon himself.

This is a newer bridge erected to replace the wooden one just to the right that was often flooded.

It was a gift from the Pittsburg Tank and Tower Group in memory of William Donald Johnston for whom the reflection bridge is named.

Many a turtle can be spied in the mucky wetlands water below.

I recently unearthed a bunch of hats the kids had worn and some have now entered into my rotation.  I took this selfie for my golf loving family.

I thought mushrooms like this only existed in video games like Super Mario Bros.  Apparently the inspiration is rooted in reality.

Today’s hike was 4.3 miles and took 2:05.  It was sunny and 88 degrees.
