Doorstep Deliveries

Upon returning from my morning errands, I noticed a little box on the doorstep. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the return address. My new phone arrived early and without a required signature.

I waited until everyone was home and unboxed it with them after dinner.  Apple does a beautiful job with its packaging. The phone was carefully trapped in the exterior box with a sheet of plastic.  I struggled to extract it and thought I was going to have to use scissors until Walker showed me how to bend the box in a slightly different direction.  The phone just lifted right out.  Ha!

The new phone is sleek and slippery without a case. This model is a big upgrade for me. I am gaining face recognition, a much higher caliber camera and larger screen even though the phone itself is smaller than my current iPhone 8 plus.  It likely has even more bells and whistles that I will soon discover.

The other special delivery I received today was from my dear friend, Cheryl. During Covid quarantine, she tackled quite a number of boxes in storage that were her late mother’s possessions.  She has made several deliveries to me of yarn for my charity projects but today she had something even more special. She found her mother’s pinking sheers. Since she herself doesn’t sew, she had them sharpened and gifted them to me in the Stix, Baer and Fuller box her mother kept them in.  She also enclosed her mother’s Home Economics teaching picture.  About these scissors, she heard the same message I heard from my mom growing up. “These are my sewing scissors! Thou shalt not use them without permission and never on anything but fabric.”

Pinked

I promptly pinked the ribbon on a gift and sent Cheryl a quick little thank you.  I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have known Kathleen and even more delighted to have this treasure.
