Today marks Mason’s fifteenth birthday. How quickly the time has flown! Our 9 pound, 10 ounce baby now stands almost six feet tall. Unbelievable!
He started the day with a breakfast of champions: strawberries with whipped cream and a slice of moist mango cake. Then Bill swept Mason off to the BMV to take the driver’s test to obtain his learner’s permit. Due to Covid, Bill was not able to go into the BMV building with him. We both had to wait for Mason’s updates. Bill sent me brief updates that were promising. When I finally did hear from Mason himself, I got two texts:
“Bad news about the test.”
“You couldn’t get more than 6 wrong and I only got 2 wrong.”
What a stinker!
Mason’s birthday wish was to spend the day at Holiday World with his friend Jackson. We dropped them off just after opening and promised to pick them up at the end of the day. Then forecast included rain but they managed to spend almost the entire day there before the outdoor attractions were closed due to precipitation.
When Mason got home, he sneaked in a quick FaceTime chat with Sophia, watched some TV and played video games.
We hope that Mason’s year is full of exciting new opportunities. In the meantime, it will be back to Holiday World tomorrow for him, but this time in uniform.
