About a week ago I started baking granola to give as our Christmas treat. Usually the baking begins about the third week of December closer to when the kids are getting out of school but this year my motivation was a gift swap with my knitting group scheduled for today.
I wish I had a trademark packaging method but I’ve not settled upon one yet. I’ve done bags, plastic containers and decorative tins. This year it was resourcefulness that presented the solution.
Remember the luminaries? Before we settled upon the small tart pans to hold the candles and sand, we bought a package of 50 aluminum pans. We discovered they were too big but I asked Bill to bring them home from the scout house. I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with them until a few days ago. I purchased the lids locally, grabbed my baker’s twine, printed labels and voila. Each package contains 10 ounces of granola.
I don’t know how many we will gift by Christmas, but I have about 48 tins at my disposal. I have a feeling we will get pretty close to gifting that much granola. It’s a welcome change from all the sweet treats and people seem to enjoy it. At least that’s what they tell me.
I made granola at Christmas too! I have some of these pans too (not for packaging granola though….wish I had thought of it). My friend bought 50 to use in her instant pot and I received some. (I have an instant pot too!)
Your granola is the best! Even though I use your recipe mine doesn’t come out as toasty brown.
