I caught this golden glow on the trees just before 6 am on my morning walk. It only lasted a few minutes but it warmed my heart.
This morning I got a surprise text from my favorite barista, Jessica, that her son is being baptized on Monday. Owen was born here on May 8th but his dad, my godson Zach, is stationed in San Diego. He came home for leave to be with Jessica for Owen’s birth but his leave is limited. Very soon they are all going back to California before being transferred to Japan for three years. I won’t be able to attend the baptism due to Covid but I made arrangements to see them at the church after the baptism so I could meet Owen in person.
That text meant with short notice, I needed a baptism and baby gift. Owen’s parents have a strong connection to the Blessed Virgin Mary so I decided a teething rosary might be perfect. It’s too late to order one but thanks to connections from my moms’ group at church, I was able to track one down locally at a children’s store! That, coupled with an I Spy quilt from my collection, will make for a very nice sendoff.
Mason accompanied me to pick up the rosary and drop off his books, materials and my thank you cards at St. John. Thankfully, I made it through my last carline without a lot of tears. On our way back home, Mason, who has asked for little since quarantine started, requested lunch from Chipotle. I ordered through the app and picked up a lovely salad for myself and burrito for him. Delicious!
After lunch, I worked on Joey’s quilt. Sewing each day is bringing me closer to meeting my deadline. I’m pleased that the top is coming together and the corners match.
Tonight we played another round of Catan after ordering Chinese food from Szechwan Chinese. It was nice to have just enough for dinner and end the day on a high note.
