Good Friends :: Good Times!

Our long time friends Kristina and Bob were on a mini baseball stadium tour and asked how far it was to Cincinnati and Indianapolis. I can’t believe it took us almost five years to figure out that Indianapolis is a convenient midpoint between St. Joseph, Michigan and our home. Our schedule was free and Mason was happy to chill out at home. This is indication of how times have dramatically changed.  We have watched our kids grow up and between us, our kids span the ages of 14 to almost 21.  For the first time, no babysitter was required to make this day happen.

Bill and I met them at El Arado for lunch. The food was yummy, the server was attentive and pleasant and best of all, they were not busy.  We had a long and leisurely lunch catching up on all areas of life before we headed off to the NCAA Hall of Champions

It was quick walkthrough for us but the cool air conditioning was more than worth the price of admission.

From there we walked to a nearby hotel, got coffee and chatted some more.  About 6 o’clock we hugged and parted ways.  Oh, how good it is to run out of time before running out of things to talk about.  Those are priceless friends.

Bill and I drove to Bloomington and ate at Laughing Planet Café.  This casual restaurant specializes in California-style burritos packed with organic and locally-produced ingredients.

What did we eat, you wonder?

HIGHWAY TO KALE SALAD—Lacinato kale, shredded carrots, queso fresco, dried cranberries and roasted pumpkin seeds with Lemon Parsley vinagrette on the side

CUBAN BURRITO—Organic brown rice, black beans, salsa fresca, sweet potatoes, plantains, BBQ sauce, and tofu with tropical fruit salsa on the side

JIMMY THE GREEK BURRITO—Organic brown rice, black beans, tomatoes, onions, feta cheese, kalamata olives and steamed spinach (I omitted the rice and beans and added extra spinach!)

We were home by 10 PM with happy hearts and full bellies.
