Goodbye January 2021

Yesterday Bill and I both wanted to walk some distance but neither of us wanted to travel a distance to walk.  We decided to got out midmorning when it wasn’t too cold and dark to walk the fingers.  We were partially in when I heard his phone chime. We “pulled over” so he could respond to a hospitalist about a patient. Oh, the on-call life of a doctor!

We were both pleased to get the miles in before lunch. Then Bill worked with Walker to prepare him for his 1 PM interview with someone from Stanford’s Admission Volunteer Network. The interviewer is a grad who lives and works in Indianapolis and happens to be a CEO of a tech company.  Bill and Walker decided that it would be advantageous to reverse interview him about the perception of Santa Clara University, Purdue and IU Kelly should he not get accepted to Stanford. Walker dressed professionally from the waist up, spent an hour with the alum on Zoom and came out smiling.  Fingers crossed!

In the late afternoon, we reconvened as a family and attended Mass once again with Fr. Dave. He didn’t rap this time but it was fun to introduce Bill to him. Then we had TV dinner, finishing up the second season of Ink Master and retiring early.

Today was nice and mellow as well. Bill left early to round on babies at both hospitals since he was on call and then headed off to the clinic. I worked most of the day on my January finish for the WIP it challenge I am in. I finished one of the bags for my December 2020 WIP It challenge and seven more today. They are all sized for the larger flat Amazon boxes that regularly arrive to our house. All they need to be finished, finished, finished is ties but it felt great wrap that up, no pun intended.

Between cutting and sewing, I did laundry and enjoyed a full stay at home day.  Tonight for dinner I used a favorite find at the Asian grocery story to make a curry vegetable soup. I added lots of our Misfits market produce and served it with sticky rice. It was delicious! I am such a fan of curry of all sorts and this warmed us all up from the inside out.

Here comes Monday!
