Homeschooling

The pandemic restrictions quickly shifted Mason and Walker’s classroom settings.  When they left school on Friday, they brought home quite a few of their books and their computers.

This is the pile of books I found this morning when I walked upstairs to exercise.  Mason has claimed the bonus room upstairs as his classroom. Mason’s school has done some e-learning in the past to make up snow days and they expect to follow that same protocol until further notice.

Signature School is a totally different ballgame.  SIG doesn’t call off school or do delays very often so they have no consistent system or framework set up for instruction.  Each teacher was given the latitude to choose a method of communication with the students.  Over the last few days, it’s felt very loosey goosey, even chaotic.  There has been little or no daily schedule at least from my vantage point.

So far, the system (or lack of it) at SIG has presented more of a challenge.  The students are not reporting to classes at any scheduled time so sometimes they are expected to report to several classes at once.  Walker is muddling through his days on his own and juggling as well as he can.

I hope this homeschooling situation is temporary and that after spring break, we are able to have more structure.
