We were caught on film! (Ok, digital film…)
I made eye contact with the cameraman but Mason was unaware. He had no idea he grew ears.
Now on for inspection…
Mason’s unit is Daniel this time. It’s a mixed age group of campers and Mason is hoping to use that to his advantage. He is hoping to be able to demonstrate loyalty and leadership to the camp to become a member of Lodge.
This week is Lodge Week for Walker. Any Lodge member is welcome to come to camp this week and engage in special Lodge only activities. The red and blue sashes designate these campers as Lodge members and are worn with pride. Since Lodge members are returnees to camp, they tend to be more senior campers in age and are allowed more freedom. We don’t expect to see many photos of Walker this week as a result of the special Lodge-only activities.
Archery is one of the activities that Mason excels at. He has really good form and he enjoys it.
This team bonding skill involved passing a heavy can with feet instead of hands. Mason said it was a hard challenge.
This was Lodge playing slip and slide kickball. It rained a lot this week, so it was quite muddy.
This is another part of challenge. They had to use a low rope to swing from one side to another.
We didn’t see many pictures of Mason after Wednesday because he intentionally dodged the camera. Thursday he was inducted into Lodge and he knew if we saw him with the white headband we would know. Stinker!
It’s so hard to capture good photos of the kids when they come flooding out the doors of the Old Dining Hall.
This week was especially bittersweet because it was the very last week of camp so campers and staff alike were saying real goodbyes like Mason did with Gareth who is returning home to Ireland.
To some this may look like a horrible fungal infection, but I knew Walker decided it was better to paint his feet with henna than throw the rest away. It’s a very good thing he wears socks to school because I doubt that is going to wash away any time soon.
We let the two Lodge brothers say farewell to camp but then we scooped them up for Part II of our Saturday plan.
Love Mason’s facial expressions. So happy he got his sash. Way to go, Buddy!
