We welcomed 2021 with rain, rain and more rain. I got up, did my morning workout and then eased into my day. In fact, Bill and I had quite some time alone before the kids were up. They are enjoying the high life of vacation—late to bed and late to rise.
This afternoon after the rain had passed, Bill and I drove out to Kentucky. Our friend Paul told Bill about seeing the migrating snow geese when they were setting up the luminaries.
They come to roost during the winter at the Sloughs, about twenty minutes from downtown Henderson.
It was cold and damp so we didn’t spent much time watching but as we drove in, we saw waves of white snow geese take off and land. It was magical.
When we got home, I made our traditional New Year’s Day meal of greens, black eyed peas and cornbread. We watched it with WW84 with dinner and then the boys abandoned us.
In keeping with another New Year’s tradition, I have a word to focus on. As often happens, my word actually picked me. I was lying in bed a few days ago when it came to me. There were many setbacks and sidesteps in 2020 thanks to Covid-19, but I was able to weather the storm by looking for the silver lining and keeping a running gratitude for things great and small. The wee voice in my head suggested that 2021 is the year to celebrate.
Celebrate I shall as I look for more blessings and reasons to be happy in this year in front of us. Happy New Year!
I love your new word for the year. I copied this from you many years ago, but haven’t picked a new word in years!! I might have to put some time into thinking of a new word!
