Make a Run for It

Today, like yesterday, started with an early morning walk.  For some reason lately I have not been sleeping very well and a walk is all the energy I can muster. Kim texted me as I headed out the door and we got to speak for almost an hour. Being two hours ahead has its advantages when a nurse works night shifts; she was getting off work and I was just getting my day started.

The morning plan was to leave early so Bill, Mason and I could get to Terre Haute by 11 am EST to pick up Mason’s new car.  It felt amazing to be out on the open road, seeing the landscape change and listening to music loudly blaring.

When we arrived, we were delighted that the car was in even better shape than we expected after the dealership addressed a few cosmetic and maintenance details. Mason was pumped and climbed in the passenger seat quite quickly.

He is now the proud owner of a 2013 Hyundai Tucson with about 87K miles on it.  It’s the right size car for him! We filled up the gas tank and led Bill back south.  Mason spent the time pairing his phone, customizing settings and testing out the radio. When we got back to Evansville, we picked up Burger King through the drive thru and he happily ate lunch while watching Impractical Jokers

Bill had to work this afternoon and I spent the time sewing.  I first called my quilting friend, Amanda Jean, for some inspiration and she did not disappoint.  When Bill returned, he, Walker and I had dinner together and discussed the origins of Covid-19 in the United States and the world.

In other news, the last two days have been fairly productive despite my difficulties sleeping.  I did laundry, vacuumed the floors and cooked.  Bill was able to fish out a drill bit that had fallen in the lint trap. It was had an unexpected adventure through the washer and the dryer and slipped out of the clothes when I extracted them. UGH! Thank goodness for Bill’s technical prowess and patience because he had to unscrew a lot of parts to get to that area of the dryer.

I am grateful for sunshine and the arrival of my new running shoes well as and the regular contact with my sisters, friends and knitters via text, telephone and Zoom meetings.  Connection is one thing I crave connection now more than ever.
