Making Progress

Happy Friday!

Two lines in my meditation readings today stood out to me:

“I learned to be happy with forward motion, no matter how small.”

“I have learned that tiny steps are perfectly acceptable and that they add up.”

These were perfect reminders for me.  I often see the larger tasks on my perpetual to do lists as overwhelming challenges too big to conquer.  I’ve been working on debunking that theory thanks to Gretchen Rubin. I’ve heard her discuss the one coin premise.  The idea is that one action may seem insignificant but a whole lot of those small actions do add up. In this spirit, I have added a few daily tasks to my list and I give myself credit for any small action on the projects.  Whereas before I might not have done any blogging if I didn’t have time to write a full post, now I give myself (imaginary) credit for pulling photos together for one.  I may not have bothered to crack a book open if I didn’t have time to read a whole chapter but now I’m doing just 21 minutes a day.

The results are amazing! For the first time in a while, I finished a book and the holes in my blog are getting filled up.

The same holds true to knitting! One stitch at a time, sweaters and hats are knit.

While Bill was working this morning at the Covid Clinic, I did laundry and food prep. I used the lovely variegated eggplants from our Misfits box to make eggplant meatballs.  The recipe yielded a lot and I have frozen a batch for another day. I served them with sauce over spaghetti and added a salad for a satisfying dinner.

Late this afternoon, Bill had an medical test. When he walked in the door, he smiled and said it paid to be a doctor in a small town. On his way home, the physician who read the test called with the results.  All is well and we are grateful to go into the weekend with good news.
