Yesterday was the retreat for all of the kiddos making their First Communion this month. When Mason sat down to start the craft, he seemed a little bit reserved and I was reluctant to leave him. It turns out that he didn’t really know the people who he was sitting with.
As soon as he found his friends from school, his countenance changed for the better.
A word about the banner at the top…
Every year the kids are given a strip of felt 3 inches x 10 inches long. Mason designed his own and was clear that he wanted the words First Communion to include the cross and the chalice. The only part I did to help was trace the letters onto the felt. I know he felt quite proud of himself and the banner.
2nd grade is such a great year.
