Today I started and finished another charity hat. Charity knitting has been my bread and butter when I am not sweater knitting. That project has not been going well. I’m not sure if the sweater’s going to fit and that’s discouraging. I’ve invested a lot of hours on it since we started sheltering in place. While I feel disappointed, I am getting really good feedback from the designer about how to remedy the situation. More importantly, I am recognizing that I can zoom out. There are a lot bigger problems in the world than a sweater that doesn’t fit.
I can look back on this day and think of many things to be grateful for such as a virtual gathering with my knitting friends, texts with my sister, the little cleaning spree that I had, the unexpected find of a gallon of hand soap (what a commodity!), the gurgles of the fountain in our bedroom and a family that sticks together.
