Good Friday

This might be one of the most unusual Good Fridays we have ever had. Usually, we are attending the live version of Stations of the Cross enacted by the eighth graders.  This year the principal got creative and shared on YouTube.

I tried to honor the day as I would have normally.  I fasted and had bullet coffee for breakfast and lunch.  My version was a very strong brew of decaf plus one tablespoon of each butter and coconut oil.  I blended it all in the Ninja and it got nice and frothy.

I observed mindful hours from noon to three.  Instead of attending veneration of the cross at St. John’s down the road, I watched Mass on line with the Pope at the Vatican.  I am keenly aware of the absence of the Eucharist since the pandemic started and I long for it.

Outside our windows I see how much work Bill has put into the yard.  The mailbox planter has suddenly started to bloom. Now I’m so glad I didn’t pull out the “dead” stuff last week.  Bill picked up quite a bit of foliage and branches and reset our garden fountain.  Oh, how I love the sound of the gurgling water.

I continue to truck along on charity hats I’ve been knitting (shown above) and the sweater.  I worked on the collar and hope to make it to the button bands tomorrow.

It was good to be home together on this peaceful day.
