Welcome to camp! These boys were ready for fun. Bill kindly sent back lots of pictures and updates while he was there.
The scouts raised and lowered the flags at their campsite, Dogwood Back, each day.
They stay in permanent tents like this.
To give an idea of the size of the camp, this is one wave of campers waiting to go into the dining hall.
Dining is crowded and loud.
The merit badges are spread out all over camp so there is a lot of walking each day.
When they are not at badges or meals, there is time to hang out at the campsite.
Bill also sent a lot of pictures of the scouts on Fossil Beach.
I assume that with those sticks they were busy digging for, well, fossils.
They built this little guy on the beach and brought him back to the campsite.
This year Mason signed up for woodcarving, metal work, pioneering and riflery. Because he earned his totin’ chip last summer, he could carry a knife which he used to whittle.
Mason was sporting a new hat and a big smile when he returned from camp.
The sun has now set on another week of scout camp. So long until 2019.
