Suds and Strolls

Our poor scout house has gone unused since Covid-19 started.  Our weekly meetings have been suspended and the only visitors were families who mowed and committee leaders at a recent committee meeting.

Bill noticed that the siding was looking pretty bad. Mold, mildew, tons of spider webs, dead bugs and dirt had taken over. About a week ago, Bill ran over and sprayed one side with a house and siding solution.  He was pretty pleased with the results but he ran out of cleaner.  Today we went back together with two full bottles.

Bill liberally sprayed the cleaner, let it sit for a little while and then came back to give it a good, solid rinse with water.

The difference is quite dramatic.

Then we moved to the front of the building. My job was to hold the ladder.  Unfortunately, I assumed the position before getting more photos.  It’s hard to see how gross it was but take my word for it.

The rinsing was quite lengthy here because Bill hosed the underside and the facing of the whole side.

Now the scout house is spruced up and ready to go!

Then after lunch Bill and I drove to the West side to walk.  It’s a real struggle to find places to walk in this town with sidewalks! We started at the Lloyd and St. Joe’s and headed up by the zoo.  Mesker Park Drive intersects with Diamond Avenue, a very large and fast paced street with no sidewalks, so we had to loop on Buchanan Road.  We circled back through the disc golf course and then traced our way back to the car.

The weather was magnificent: 82 and sunny.  There was a beautiful breeze for the duration of our 4.6 mile walk. We wrapped up and headed home for an only child dinner with Walker as Mason is working today at Holiday World.  Let’s hope this relaxing evening helps us ease into the second week of school.
