In our house, Super Bowl Sunday is more about the ancillary activities and culinary traditions than the sport of the game and the skill of the players.
For me, Super Bowl Sunday is the culmination of a five month long knitting event called the Pigskin Party. I am usually knitting my final blitz project and tallying the number of yards I have knit over the last five months. I am also working on my final challenge of the season.
This time I had to make a toy that incorporated one team’s colors. I chose to knit this ball which is comprised of six knitted strips and then woven like a puzzle to create this shape. It was FUN!
Mason took care of the kitchen duties. He prepared homemade jalapeno poppers per a recipe from Babish’s show, The Good Place Special.
They were decadent and delicious. I had to restrict my consumption to just two but I could have eaten the whole tray. It turns out these were a labor of love on Mason’s part. He was not as fond of them as he was of the homemade burgers he fried. They were superb as well.
For posterity’s sake, I will report that the Kansas City Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers, 31-20 but we were the real winners. We had another fun Sunday together.
I love the super ball you made! I tried to make something with para-cord with zero success!
Your opening sentence is just one of the many reasons I love you.
You would never believe I am the one with the masters in English when you read my blog, ha!
