For quite some time I have wanted to participate in a produce CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) but belonging has never been super easy. Then Pinterest started prompting me with ads for Misfits Market. They are a subscription box company that delivers sometimes funny-looking fruits and vegetables making it easy and affordable to eat healthy. They are dedicated to breaking the cycle of food waste by helping delicious food find a good home. I loved the idea of organic food coming right to my door. The options were intriguing so I signed up.
Due to Covid-19, our first shipment did not arrive until today, three weeks after I originally joined. I waited until Bill came home from work so we could unbox it together.
We chose a weekly delivery of the Madness box. This option is 18-22 pounds of fresh and organic mixed fruits and vegetables. We received 6 oranges, 4 mandarins, 5 gala apples, 2 turnips, 2 bunches of beets, 3 onions, 2 pounds of green beans, 1 butternut squash, 6 potatoes, 2 zucchini, 2 bunches of BBQ spring onions, 1 giant fennel bulb, 2 English cucumbers, and 2 bunches of collard greens.
We didn’t get to choose what the box contained but we were delighted with the quantity, variety and quality. It was also very well packaged. We can’t wait to see what the next one contains.
