Zoo 1

Even though the students arrived late last night to their hotel in Maryland, they were up and at it early today. They had continental breakfast in the hotel and boarded the bus.  They headed straight to the National Zoo.  Because it is free and open at 8 AM on a Sunday morning, it is a great way to start their day. Besides, it provides the opportunity to see the pandas and a few other animals.

After the zoo, it was time to attend 10:30 AM Mass at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception

The steps were a great place to take a photo of the Class of 2017.

Several of our students brought up the gifts during Mass.

The basilica is the largest Roman Catholic Church in North America and houses 80 chapel and oratories that honor the Mother of God.  The art and architecture are impressive so we weren’t surprised to see Walker taking photos (on his iPhone, a new acquisition) during the tour.

We don’t see many gold cars like this in our neck of the woods.

Supper

The later part of the day was spent at the memorials.  To save time, dinner was delivered.
