When I spied a Peeps wreath on the internet, I knew just the one who would appreciate it. My BFF Michelle loves Peeps and she happens to be celebrating a birthday this week. I was so excited to make this for her.
I used this tutorial and a 14 inch straw wreath form. I needed a few shy of 90 chicks to cover the wreath. The construction was easy—toothpicks impale the chicks’ heads and then the chicks get poked into the wreath. No glue was used at all! Stale chicks work best so it’s suggested that the boxes get opened ahead of construction time.
One of the best part of this gift for Michelle is that it will have some time to cure in transit. You see, some people like their Peeps squishy soft while others prefer them to be a little on the stale side. Can you guess which camp she is in?
Making this gift and sending it gave me great joy. Every time I look at it and think about it, it makes me smile. I hope it brings that same reaction to Michelle’s face, that is, until the chicks start magically disappearing.
So impressed… and you had to mail it, too!
This is so cute! Michelle will love it. I particularly love the 4th picture down…there is one little peeper who exemplifies the name, peeps.
i LOVE, LOVE , LOVE it!!! It is being displayed in a place of homor in our entryway. I have cheated and eaten one of the chicks– stale and chewy, just the way I like them!! As we get closer to Easter I iwll be eating more of them, but it is just too cute to eat right now
