We woke up to snow on this, the first day of February!
I dropped off Mason and then dashed about doing my Monday errands: groceries, cleaners and Starbucks! I was tickled to see my coffee prepared with a smiley face.
I was also jazzed that Grape Nuts were FINALLY restocked at the grocery store. They have been out of stock at nearly every store for our area for several months. I wonder if Post was using their factories for other products during the pandemic. When I saw five boxes on the shelf, I had to stock up. I DID leave one box for another lucky shopper.
Once home, I worked on updating some computer tasks and food prep. Walker was home today due to a fever and had to have a Covid test. Not feeling well was a lot simpler before the pandemic started. He cannot go back to school until he is fever free 24 hours and has a negative test. He is quarantined in his room for the time being.
Bill finished his afternoon early enough for us to go together to the viewing of a doctor he worked with at ECHO when we just moved here. Dr. Ed was just 61 years old and he died in his sleep. When we moved here, our boys took portraits with his three children for the ECHO offices. When Bill left ECHO, they gifted us some of the mounted photos and prints. This one was in the attic, hence the wrinkles. Seeing their three kids at the viewing was touching and sad. It’s hard to lose a parent so young and unexpectedly.
We were able to have an early dinner and call it a night.
It is so sad to lose someone so young. I thought for a second the young Dr. you were talking about was Dr. Nunge. He worked at Deaconness. His son and Matthew started at the University of Iowa at the same time. They moved from Iowa to Evansville around the time when we moved from Evansville to Iowa! (He and Matthew didn’t know each other, but we did see him at orientation, when Ken saw that his high school was Castle in Newburgh. His son was on the basketball team.) Dr. Nunge was just 2 years older than me. I feel so bad for his family. May they rest in peace.
