A Special Delivery

Since we went to mass last night, this morning had a very relaxed feel.  We didn’t have to rush around and the boys made no effort to rise early.  That will happen soon enough when they go back to school tomorrow.

Bill and I took a walk early in the day and dropped off a belated Christmas gift to Laura.  She had requested new dishcloths and I was finally able to get them knit up.  I used her favorite color, Green Tea, and made her six square washcloths and two round scrubbies for dishes. I wrapped these cute labels around each one and I was pleased with how they enhanced such a utilitarian gift. Our little jaunt was my first in my 21 walks with Bill goal for 2021.

When we returned home, Bill and I caught up on some household tasks. He swapped a broken doorknob and spruced up our closet. For years, the clothes bars in our bedroom have had a gap where the hangers would slip off onto the floor. I happened to mention it to him and when he was at Lowe’s for something else, he picked up the supplies to fix them.  I can’t express my glee. Who knew it would be so easy or that such a small repair would yield such delight?

I did some of my regular admin tasks, wrote thank you notes and worked on this little blog of ours.  When the time came, I put a lovely little dinner together.  By that I mean, I took ingredients we had on hand and concocted a Mexican style chili and baked fresh corn muffins. We all settled in for the night and began to look ahead to the full week of school and work.
