Advent Day 7

I started a new pattern for my advent knitting yesterday.  I have wanted to make a shrug for some time and I have been stalking patterns forever!

Textured Pop Shrug

The Textured Pop Shrug seems like it will lend itself well to being knit in a scrappy fashion. I cast on and made some progress.

It was a busy day at the Selby house. We had several trucks from Schmitt here and three men working under the house on the vent work.  In the meantime, a plumber stopped by to diagnose the cause of the leak in the boys’ bathroom.  We determined that the tub itself was leaking, not the plumbing.  Bill is eager to do some more research to find out exactly how.

This afternoon I added my second color to the shrug.  Catching up is the challenge now.  I think it’s going to take at least 90 minutes each day to use up the day’s color plus I have other projects and housework to keep on as well.

In other news, today was filled with gratitude for lost and found.  After searching high and low for Mason’s missing Epi-pens, I called the allergist for a refill. That’s when I discovered ours were at the office. Mystery solved.

I finally tracked down a particular color of yarn I need to make something for a friend.  It’s been out of stock everywhere.  Michaels had it listed as available but I still couldn’t locate it in the store…until I asked.  The employee showed me a secret drawer of extra inventory and buried in the bottom were three of the very color I needed!

After a call to our friend Chris, who helped Mason build the gaga pit, we have a contractor referral for the work in the bathroom.  In this town, it’s sometimes hard to find reliable, reputable tradesman.  With his recommendation, we feel much more confident.

With the Christmas bins all stored away again until January, I felt the calm of the season return to our home.  It is beginning to feel a lot like Christmas, indeed.
