Dress Rehearsal

There is this funny thing that knitters do when they finish up a project. It’s the bathroom selfie and I find it to be highly unflattering.  However, here I am trying to get an idea of the fit on the sweater I have been knitting since quarantine started.

I’m smiling but inside I am crying.  It’s not big enough—at least not as big as I had hoped.  I wanted more ease in the front and more sweater to wrap myself up in. When Bill came into the bathroom to check on me, I told him my concerns and then I started crying. I feel like I have wasted all of this time knitting on a project that I have wanted for eons all for naught. I give Bill a lot of credit.  He is not a super cuddly guy but he wrapped his arms around me and gave me a huge bear hug, holding me while I let the disappointment out.

There is still a little bit of hope that it will relax and I will get a fit closer to what I want when I wash it. However, I’m already planning what I am going to do with this sweater if the size does not change when I wet block it.

On the plus side of the day, Bill was home and his company is always a treat. We went out to get our will notarized at the bank (for free!) and stopped first at Starbucks for heaven in a cup.

I posted pictures of my latest shawl on Instagram and got a lot of love.

We had a delicious Thai curry soup for dinner with gourmet mushrooms from our latest Misfits box and we followed it up with a wild game of Monopoly.
