Friends and Family Weekend

We spent our Labor Day out at Camp Ondessonk.  This is the second time we have been invited to the special event reserved for those who have given time, talent and treasure to camp. It’s a very mellow weekend and for many campers and former staff, it’s a big reunion.

Most of the regular activities are open and the schedule is very loose.  Mason spent a lot of time playing gaga and hanging out in his hammock.

Walker palled around with his buddies, Josie, Abbie and Cassie.  We shared the BOQ unit with Josie’s family.  While this unit was a little warm and lacking in ventilation, it was conveniently located to so many of the areas we wanted to be.

As a family, we did the challenge course. It included rock climbing, high ropes and a zipline.

Later Saturday afternoon, the boys left us and Bill and I headed off on a hike.  We trekked out to Hog’s Bluff and then Bill took me out to the cemetery that he and the scouts found last winter.

Our guides for our tour outnumbered the four of us on the hike.  From left to right: Mary, Margaret, Ben, Ryan, Jeannette, Patrick and Dillon.

Sunday the Nature Staff led us on a really nice four hour hike. We went to Poseidon’s Cathedral and Little Pakentuk.

Sunday evening was the big carnival event with the band.  This is one weekend where the coolers contain beverages stronger than Ski.

We had a really relaxing time this weekend.  We even made it back home early enough to get fully unpacked and complete the laundry before the sun set. Heepwah!
