Today was the first time since we began sheltering in place that I went to the grocery store. I wore my mask and made sure I used lots of hand sanitizer. It felt overwhelming to try to shop bigger for food that would last for two weeks at a time when I am accustomed to making several trips a week for a few things at a time. My cart was quite full when I left but contained not a single roll of toilet paper. TP is still a hot commodity.
People were very distant physically and self-absorbed. I noticed how hard it was for me because strangers couldn’t see me smile at them and we weren’t able to exchange simple pleasantries.
One lovely thing was that since I was already out of the house, I piggybacked a visit to Starbucks for a cup of liquid heaven. The baristas are special people in my world.
Covid is helping me to appreciate many elements of my daily life activities and the people I share them with.
