The Advent parade

My advent projects are complete! My socks took me a little longer than I originally expected to finish up because of the design I used but they were worth the effort and the extra time.

I started the sock with little white toes and knit one strip a day for 24 days.  When the color shifted from one to the next, I did a special slipped stitch to add a little detail.  I knew I wanted to wait until the sock was done to insert the heel because I didn’t want to interrupt the strip sequence.  When it was time to cut the tube (Yes, cut. Yes, with scissors.) to add in the heel, I hadn’t anticipated that the slipped stitch might complicate that. I have used this afterthought cutting technique before but never with the slipped stitches.  I learned something new and in the end they worked out just fine.

I am in love with my cowl.  It is an Ambah O’Brien design called the ADVENTuring Cowl.  It was so much fun to make and it’s even more fun to wear.  There are some stripes incorporated using colors that I would not have chosen to use by themselves but they somehow blend nicely.  I will definitely enjoy making another cowl like this in the future.

Finally, here are Mason’s Funko advent figures on display. Being the Funko fan that he is, he enjoyed the anticipation of opening his little door each day at dinner.
